Vessels for Stories was a collaborative project using the iconography of the boat to build relationships along historic pre-colonial trade routes between Indonesia and Australia.
Over a month in 2013, myself and theatre maker, Anna Weekes, collaborated with artists from Rumata Artspace and Kala Teater in Makassar, Indonesia.
Together, we explored themes of friendship and trade through spoken word, dance, traditional music, physical theater and puppetry.
The performance of Vessels for Stories opened the 2013 Makassar International Writers Festival.
